With the addition of No. 10 overall pick Michael Crabtree, the 49ers have a stable of receivers. Perhaps the player with the most tenuous future is veteran Arnaz Battle, the team's top wideout in 2006 and '07. Battle is entering the final year of his contract.
When asked if Battle is on the trade block, general manager Scot McCloughan said, "Nothing is out of the realm, but no I don't look to move him.
You want the competition. You'd rather have more than not enough. It will take care of itself."
In addition to Crabtree and Battle, the 49ers also have Isaac Bruce, Josh Morgan, Brandon Jones, Jason Hill and Dominique Zeigler on the roster.
MEDICAL WATCH: Defensive end Ray McDonald underwent reconstructive surgery on his right knee in the offseason to repair a torn ACL. He is coming along swiftly, and the 49ers hope he'll be able to see significant participation in training camp.
